By now, you’re likely aware of the situation regarding Hurricane Helene in Asheville and the surrounding areas. Many of you have reached out through phone, email, and Instagram, and we appreciate you reaching out and want to express our gratitude for your kind words and encouragement.
We’re relieved to report that we are safe, and both our home and studio have remained unharmed.
Unfortunately, three of the galleries in the Asheville area where we sold our work were completely destroyed. If you’d like to aid them, we’ve linked their information below. We’ve also linked a couple of organizations where you can directly support individual artists, or donate to communities affected by the storm.
Aid for Artists
Treats Studios has a list of artists impacted by Hurricane Helene that you can support directly, either by direct donation, purchasing on their respective websites, or purchasing through their galleries.
Located on Swannanoa River Road, Atomic Furnishing was completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. You can donate directly to their Go Fund Me to help them recover + rebuild.
“Our immediate priority is finding a new space to keep our business, Atomic, and to continue supporting our 20+ vendors. Many of us operate week to week, so securing a location soon is crucial for getting back on our feet.
This is a difficult time, especially with so many businesses impacted by the storm, but finding a new place to sell our products is the best way we can support our vendors and move forward.”
Located on Foundy Street right off of Riverside Drive in the heart of the River Arts District, Foundation Studios was completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. You can donate directly to their Go Fund Me to help them recover.
“All of the artists at Foundation lost years worth of their work, if not all of it, supplies, and worst of all, the source of income they relied on by selling their art in the gallery. Additionally, my friends have lost not only their art, but their business.”
The Southern Highland Craft Guild’s gallery in Biltmore Village was completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. You can donate to the Guild (a 501c3 nonprofit) on their website to help them recover.
“All scheduled Guild activities and events are cancelled until further notice. Our shops are closed at this time. Please stay tuned for ways you can support the artist community in Asheville. We will keep you updated on the situation and provide further information as it becomes available.”
